JHD: It was 25 years ago today…

Word Up! – JHD was born on this very day in 1986, when Run DMC and Aerosmith Walked this Way and The Bangles Walked like an Egyptian; James Brown was Living In America – Bon Jovi were Livin’ On a Prayer; Debbie Harry was French Kissin’ in the USA – Wang Chung were Wang Chunging all over the place. Were you Pretty in Pink or a Lady in Red? Addicted To Love or Dancing on the Ceiling?

Tom Cruise was Top Gun at the Box Office; there was Hannah, Her Sisters with Rita, Sue and Bob Too; Betty was Blue, as was Velvet; A Platoon was sent to battle Aliens, while Ferris Bueller had a Day Off.

Comic Relief and Casualty began; Den was Dirty; Beadle was About; the Detective was Singing; and it was good but it wasn’t right on Catchphrase.

Argentina won their second World Cup title, largely thanks to a hand ball that put them in the final; Greg LeMond became the first American to win the Tour de France; Mike Tyson became the youngest world heavyweight-boxing champion; and Jack Nicklaus became the oldest Masters winner.

The Challenger Space Shuttle exploded, killing 7 astronauts; Chernobyl experienced a huge nuclear meltdown in the Soviet Union; the United States bombed Libya; but, on the bright side, our very own Katie was born!

In advertising: fashion has come full circle; computers have long since replaced pens, scalpels and glue; and, these days, smoking is definately a no-no!

Happy Birthday to us!
